Obama portrait added to lottery tickets in Colombia

USATODAY - October 23, 2008
The latest batch of lottery tickets in Meta, Colombia, features a photo of Sen. Barack Obama.

Loteria Del Meta tells BBC News they sold 700,000 tickets on the day they added the Democratic presidential nominee's visage.

"We picked Obama's portrait for our lottery because we're always looking for somebody people are raving about. He's ahead in opinion polls and right now he's the most popular guy around here," lottery manager Luis Enciso tells AFP.

Reuters says the weekly prize averages $300,000. El Tiempo has more on this story.
