Don Fowler Amused by New Orleans Hurricane
from Powerline:
It's no secret that Democrats love it when things go wrong. This, though, is a particularly nauseating example. Don Fowler, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and Democratic Congressman Don Spratt are caught on video laughing about the fact that a hurricane is about to hit New Orleans, to the political advantage, they suppose, of their party.
This is what Hurricane Katrina was all about. Mainstream reporters committed malpractice, repeatedly reporting things that weren't true. They did this to try to help their party at a time when the Democrats needed help badly, and they succeeded. The Democrats are desperately hoping for another New Orleans hurricane that will kill thousands of people and thus distract attention from the Republican Convention. You can draw your own conclusion about the moral stature of these people.
Barack Obama, by the way, is one of the worst. He tried to make political hay out of Hurricane Katrina as recently as Thursday night.

Obama Campaign Reaction to Sarah Palin
From Fox News, the official statement from Obama spokesman Bill Burton:
Wouldn't a mayor trump a community organizer? I know a governor trumps a senator big time.
Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency.
Wouldn't a mayor trump a community organizer? I know a governor trumps a senator big time.
Barack Obama, Aspiring Commissar
By the Editors | National Review | August 28, 2008
While the Obama coronation proceeds apace in Denver, it is in Chicago that Americans are getting a disturbing demonstration of his thuggish methods of stifling criticism.
Stanley Kurtz, a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, is a Harvard-educated social anthropologist and frequent contributor to National Review, among other publications. He is widely respected for his meticulous research and measured commentary. For months, he has been doing the job the mainstream media refuses to do: examining the background and public record of Barack Obama, the first-term senator Democrats are about to make their nominee for president despite the shallowness of his experience and achievement.
Kurtz has written extensively, and with characteristic attention to factual detail, about Obama’s early career as a “community organizer,” his cultivation of benefactors in the most radical cauldrons of Chicago politics, his long-time pastor’s immersion in Black Liberation Theology, his ties to anti-American zealots, and the years in the Illinois state legislature this self-styled agent of change spent practicing the by-the-numbers left-wing politics of redistribution and race-consciousness, remaining soft on crime and extreme on abortion.
This has led Kurtz, naturally, to scrutinize the relationship between Obama and one of his early political sponsors, William Ayers. Ayers, as we have previously detailed, is a confessed terrorist who, having escaped prosecution due to surveillance violations that came to light during his decade on the lam after a bombing spree, landed an influential professorship in education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). As he has made clear several times before and after helping to launch Obama’s political career, Ayers remains defiantly proud of bombing the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, and other targets. He expresses regret only that he didn’t do more. Far from abandoning his radical politics, he has simply changed methods: the classroom, rather than the detonator, is now his instrument for campaigning against an America he portrays as racist and imperialist.

Put aside all the theatrics of the night, however over the top. Obama sunk his own speech when he began to talk of how he would confront Russia and defeat al Qaeda.
He doesn't have the qualifications to run a battalion, much less the entire military. No corporation would make Obama CEO, and few states would elect him governor on his resume. It is all talk, all wind.
The idea of Obama defining American policy vis-a-vis Putin or Ahmadinejad is at best, deeply disturbing. -- Hugh Hewitt, posted at 1:04 AM

Futility of protesting at the DNC
Self-professed squatter punk Neil, aka Chunk, thinks a lot needs to change in this country. But, he tells The UpTake's Chuck Olsen that protesting will not do any good.
Hot Air at the DNC - Netflix for terrorists
What happens when Hot Air TV special correspondent Jason Mattera puts on his orange jumpsuit to petition DNC protesters in support of Netflix and MSNBC (and Jihad Olympics!) for the deprived Gitmo detainees?
Instant classic, awesomely awesome video! Enjoy the best of Jason’s undercover work and send it to all your friends. Special thanks to the People’s Press Collective for their camera and editing help.
Too many favorite moments to name, but I’ll alert you to a few of mine. Watch out for the eco-conscious couple’s reaction when Jason suggests the ultimate carbon footprint solution. Hackysack with Little John Edwards. And: Jason’s got some mad ballroom dancing skillz.

Next, the Obama thugs came for Stanley Kurtz
By Michelle Malkin • August 28, 2008 10:28 AM
First, they came for TV stations daring to air an independent ad about Barack Obama and unrepentant Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers.
Next, they came for GOP donors.
Now, they are shamelessly attacking National Review investigative journalist Stanley Kurtz — one of conservatism’s most thoughtful and penetrating writers on academic and educational affairs. Kurtz has been at the forefront probing Obama’s relationships with left-wing ideologues. It was his public information request and public call for help that led to the University of Illinois - Chicago finally releasing tons of files that shed light on the Obama/Ayers working relationship. The Obama camp is condemning Kurtz in harsher terms than it ever condemned the terrorist Ayers. Kurtz has been attacked now as a “right-wing hatchet man” and “slimy character assassin.”

So Obama -- just who is Khalid Al-Mansour?
Another Radical Obama Association?
by Amanda Carpenter | Townhall.com
Old videos appear to show a radical Muslim named Khalid Al-Mansour helped Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama gain acceptance into Harvard Law.
Civil rights activist Percy Sutton recalled being solicited by a man named Dr. Khalid A-Mansour to write a letter of recommendation to help Obama gain acceptance into Harvard Law in this undated television interview available here:
In one of the videos, titled “Christians Designed Discrimination” uploaded by a YouTube user named IslamStudios, Al-Mansour said, “White people don't feel bad, whatever you do to them, they deserve it, God wants you to do it and that's when you cut out the nose, cut out the ears, take flesh out of their body, don't worry because God wants you to do it."
He also draws lines between whites and African Americans. “The Christianity that white people got and the Christianity that black people got was not the same,” he added.

the U2 song Obama plays the most

City of Blinding Lights
The more you see the less you know
The less you find out as you go
I knew much more then than I do now
Neon heart day-glow eyes
A city lit by fireflies
They're advertising in the skies
For people like us
And I miss you when you're not around
I'm getting ready to leave the ground
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Don't look before you laugh
Look ugly in a photograph
Flash bulbs purple irises
The camera can't see
I've seen you walk unafraid
I've seen you in the clothes you made
Can you see the beauty inside of me?
What happened to the beauty I had inside of me?
(cut)
And I miss you when you're not around
I'm getting ready to leave the ground
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
Time...time...time...time...time
Won't leave me as I am
But time won't take the boy out of this man
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
Oh you look so beautiful tonight
In the city of blinding lights
The more you know the less you feel
Some pray for others steal
Blessings are not just for the ones who kneel... luckily

Obama speech stage resembles ancient Greek temple

DENVER (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's big speech on Thursday night will be delivered from an elaborate columned stage resembling a miniature Greek temple.
The stage, similar to structures used for rock concerts, has been set up at the 50-yard-line, the midpoint of Invesco Field, the stadium where the Denver Broncos' National Football League team plays.
Some 80,000 supporters will see Obama appear from between plywood columns painted off-white, reminiscent of Washington's Capitol building or even the White House, to accept the party's nomination for president.
He will stride out to a raised platform to a podium that can be raised from beneath the floor.
The show should provide a striking image for the millions of Americans watching on television as Obama delivers a speech accepting the Democratic presidential nomination.
McCain Aide Mocks Obama: 'Is This From the Onion?'
Does Obama support free speech or not?
Examiner Staff Writer 8/27/08
Democrats such as Barack Obama are increasingly showing a disturbing eagerness to invoke the power of the state to silence critics. The latest example of this growing anti-First Amendment mentality is Obama’s heavy-handed response to a television ad by an independent nonprofit that raises some very basic questions about the Illinois senator’s relationship with William Ayers, the unrepentant 1960s terrorist bomber.
Obama’s campaign has encouraged supporters to flood television stations with protests whenever they see the ad. Nothing wrong with that, but the other thrust of the Obama response was to ask the Justice Department to intervene to stop further airing of the ad. That’s where Obama crossed the line and raised a question of fundamental importance — does he or does he not believe the First Amendment’s guarantee of freedom of speech?

Cardinal Egan of New York Blasts Pelosi Deception
STATEMENT OF HIS EMINENCE, EDWARD CARDINAL EGAN CONCERNING REMARKS MADE BY THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Like many other citizens of this nation, I was shocked to learn that the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America would make the kind of statements that were made to Mr. Tom Brokaw of NBC-TV on Sunday, August 24, 2008. What the Speaker had to say about theologians and their positions regarding abortion was not only misinformed; it was also, and especially, utterly incredible in this day and age.
We are blessed in the 21st century with crystal-clear photographs and action films of the living realities within their pregnant mothers. No one with the slightest measure of integrity or honor could fail to know what these marvelous beings manifestly, clearly, and obviously are, as they smile and wave into the world outside the womb. In simplest terms, they are human beings with an inalienable right to live, a right that the Speaker of the House of Representatives is bound to defend at all costs for the most basic of ethical reasons. They are not parts of their mothers, and what they are depends not at all upon the opinions of theologians of any faith. Anyone who dares to defend that they may be legitimately killed because another human being “chooses” to do so or for any other equally ridiculous reason should not be providing leadership in a civilized democracy worthy of the name.

The Washington Post reports on the great unease at the Democratic Convention:
As the Democrats kicked off a convention designed to unite support behind Obama, interviews with several dozen delegates pointed to an undercurrent of anxiety among many from key swing states who will be charged with leading the push in their communities. They expressed doubts bordering on bewilderment: Why, in a year that had been shaping up as a watershed for Democrats, amid an economic downturn and an unpopular Republican presidency, is the race so tight?

not much explaining -- just that he was eight years old in the 60s
more questions
1. Why has he been covering this up before now?
2. Set aside the fact that Obama was a mere lad when Ayers was setting bombs; today Ayers is an unreconstructed hard-left radical with dramatic views on education and society - as he explained to Hugo Chavez during a speech in Venezuela in 2006, "La educacion es revolucion!"

Dear Che*Bama (received yesterday at 9:30 am)

I have some important news that I want to make official.
I've chosen Joe Biden to be my running mate.
Joe and I will appear for the first time as running mates this afternoon in Springfield, Illinois -- the same place this campaign began more than 19 months ago.
I'm excited about hitting the campaign trail with Joe, but the two of us can't do this alone. We need your help to keep building this movement for change.
Please let Joe know that you're glad he's part of our team. Share your personal welcome note and we'll make sure he gets it:

With the addition of Slow Joe Biden to the ticket, Obama has added to his unsteady candidacy an epic amount of Beltway cluelessness and arrogance unsupported by anything except frequent flier miles and Delaware's love for a chuckle-headed fellow with a big smile.

Epic Text Message Fail? Media Gets Biden News Hours Before Supporters
By Patrick Ruffini, 08/23/2008 - 5:52am
Shortly after 3 AM on the east coast, the long-awaited text message from Barack Obama announcing Joe Biden had finally arrived. But it was something short of letting the cat out of the bag. At 10:50 pm on Friday night, ABC News confirmed that Biden was getting Secret Service protection. The first official confirmation that I could find came from CNN at 12:45 a.m. The promised "be the first to know" text message came a full two hours later.
What seemed like a brilliant exercise in media management devolved into a late night rearguard maneuver. All day Friday, the Twitterverse was on pins and needles waiting for their text message. (A number of us with iPhones probably jumped when we received one earlier in the day from AT&T promoting a software upgrade.) By 6 p.m., as the evening news cycle was closing, it was clear that no text message would come on Friday. The Obama campaign had kept the waiting game going for one more day. Again, seemingly brilliant.
But as Friday evening turned into night, it became apparent that the campaign was going to run into sequencing and logistics problems. Sure, the campaign could wait to send the message minutes before the nominee took the stage at the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Ill. But that ignored the fact that the nominee had to get to Springfield. And with the media camped out in front of each of their houses, how exactly were they going to do that without getting noticed?

Obama Picks Joe Biden - Change? What Change???
Obama's play-it-safe vice presidential pick is as new and different as a worn-out shoe.
August 22, 2008 - by Jennifer Rubin | PAJAMAS MEDIA
What a difference a summer makes. Barack Obama began the summer as he began the campaign: the Agent of Change. With the summer drawing to an end, he has chosen a running mate who is as old school as they come and as familiar as a worn-out shoe.
Joe Biden was born during World War II, was the fifth youngest man ever elected to the Senate (back in 1972) and has run for President twice. He is not known for discretion or staying on message, his questioning of Supreme Court appointees is the stuff of political satire and he became infamous for his misbegotten plan to partition Iraq. But he is a grown up, an experienced Washington insider and one not known for political extremism. The image from this pick is: safe, comfortable and knowledgeable.

Official: Obama picks Biden for veep

Aug 23 01:50 AM US/Eastern | By LIZ SIDOTI and NEDRA PICKLER | Associated Press Writers
WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama selected Sen. Joe Biden of Delaware late Friday night to be his vice presidential running mate, according to a Democratic official, balancing his ticket with an older congressional veteran well-versed in foreign policy and defense issues.
Biden, 65, has twice sought the White House, and is a Catholic with blue-collar roots, a generally liberal voting record and a reputation as a long-winded orator.
Across more than 30 years in the Senate, he has served at various times not only as chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee but also as head of the Judiciary Committee, with its jurisdiction over anti-crime legislation, Supreme Court nominees and Constitutional issues.
In selecting Biden, Obama passed over several other potential running mates, none more prominent than former first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, his tenacious rival in dozens of primaries and caucuses.

And all over Los Angeles -- on stop signs, underpasses, buildings and billboards -- hundreds of posters and stickers of Obama, emblazoned with the word "Hope," have been slapped up, guerrilla-style.

Obama: ChiCom's Infrastructure "Vastly Superior" to Ours
Everybody's watching what's going on in Beijing right now with the Olympics , Think about the amount of money that China has spent on infrastructure. Their ports, their train systems, their airports are vastly the superior to us now, which means if you are a corporation deciding where to do business you're starting to think, "Beijing looks like a pretty good option."
Yes, vastly superior . . . until earthquakes take out entire schools, until you look at the slave labor sweat shops, until you see all the smog and pollution, until you talk to the people in Tibet. So yeah, if that's what you call superior.

Know Enough?
Beyond the speeches, how much do you really know about Barack Obama? Learn about his connection to William Ayers.
Obama Says USA Is Just Like Russia

from Gateway Pundit:
...Except that Russia strips citizens of their rights and the US builds democracies--
Something that is completely lost on Obama.
Anyone who does not believe Obama is a Far Left kook is blind, deaf and dumb.
Obama pulls a Kos and compares the US to Russia.
Sick.
Suddenly, Obama sounds just like his bitter soul mate.
Reuters and Charles Johnson reported:
Democrat Barack Obama scolded Russia again on Wednesday for invading another country’s sovereign territory while adding a new twist: the United States, he said, should set a better example on that front, too.
The Illinois senator’s opposition to the Iraq war, which his comment clearly referenced, is well known. But this was the first time the Democratic presidential candidate has made a comparison between the U.S. invasion of Iraq and Russia’s recent military activity in Georgia.
“We’ve got to send a clear message to Russia and unify our allies,” Obama told a crowd of supporters in Virginia. “They can’t charge into other countries. Of course it helps if we are leading by example on that point.”
Foreign policy has become a dividing line in the race for the White House.
It means nothing to the most liberal senator that the US is building a democracy in Iraq while Russia is destroying one in Georgia.
Obama is dangerous.
Is it any surprise then that more Georgians support John McCain over Barack Obama by a 3-2 margin.

Obama and the patriotism card
John at Powerline hits the nail on the head:
Obama comes across as a whiner who is happy to dish out personal attacks, but thinks he should be entitled to some kind of immunity. I suspect that he played the patriotism card because he knows how vulnerable he is both on foreign policy and on character, and is hoping to delegitimize, or at least fend off, any criticisms in those areas as attacks on his patriotism. It isn't going to work.

Reuters/Zogby Poll: McCain Makes a Move, Takes 5-Point Lead Over Obama

Obama's America: upside down and not so full of hope?

from Hot Air - Ed Morrissey
Maybe the DNCC has kept track of the polling this summer and figures the Democratic nominee is officially in distress. That’s the only explanation for a silly gaffe by the convention committee for the graphics on their credentials for those allowed to see Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at Invesco Field. The holographic image uses an American flag motif with the blue field at the bottom, with Obama’s head emerging from it in one of the two alternating images (via the Weasel Zippers):
The viewers say with the stars and blue field in the lower left corner, it looks like an upside down American flag. Published flag etiquette states the stars should always be displayed in the upper left corner. An upside down flag represents an international symbol of extreme distress.
Matt Chandler with the Obama campaign says the flag is not upside down. He says it is a stylized flag designed to blend the stars on Senator Obama’s shirt with the flag blowing in the wind.
bucking your party? Bipartisan working together? The REST of the story . . .
Powerline has a great "behind-the-answer" post about Obama's response to a question at the Saddleback Civil Forum:

Obama - if you really wanted to boost revenue, you'd lower taxes
A rising tide raises all boats, but Dems don't understand that. To them, it's a zero-sum game. If someone's getting rich, someone's getting poor. That's not reality though. Poverty, as described by this excellent article, is the default state of being for humanity. "As individuals and as a species, we are born naked and penniless, bereft of skills or possessions."
Most people rise above minimum wage levels simply by making an effort to succeed and better themselves.
The only reason leftists want to raise taxes is for power and control over the people. They have no intentions toward fixing the deficit or balancing the budget. Tax and spend is all that they know.
Washington Post admits coverage favors Obama 3 to 1

Obama's Edge in the Coverage Race
By Deborah Howell | Sunday, August 17, 2008; Page B06
Democrat Barack Obama has had about a 3 to 1 advantage over Republican John McCain in Post Page 1 stories since Obama became his party's presumptive nominee June 4. Obama has generated a lot of news by being the first African American nominee, and he is less well known than McCain -- and therefore there's more to report on. But the disparity is so wide that it doesn't look good.

Obama's radio ad shows he's for government force and tyranny
(Motors revving)
Announcer: Listen to John McCain speaking to motorcycle enthusiasts in Sturgis, South Dakota, on Tuesday.
McCain: Not long ago a couple of hundred thousand Berliners made a lot of noise for my opponent. I'll take the roar of 50,000 Harleys any day...
Announcer: But when it comes to his record, American-made motorcycles like Harleys don't matter to John McCain. Back in Washington, McCain opposed the requirement that the government buy American-made motorcycles. And he said all buy-American provisions were quote "disgraceful." Surprised? You shouldn't be. This is the same John McCain who supported billions in tax breaks for companies who ship American jobs overseas.
(More motors revving)
Announcer: It's time to hear the roar of the strong American economy again -- and stop John McCain from shipping our jobs overseas.

They are seeking some intimacy amid the grandiosity of Mr. Obama’s acceptance speech in the Invesco Field stadium before an audience of more than 70,000, the sort of cheering throng Mr. McCain’s aides have sought to use against Mr. Obama by portraying him as presiding over a cult of personality.
When he delivers his speech on the last night of the convention, Mr. Obama will not be addressing the crowd from a lone lectern at the edge of the field; he will be standing at the 50-yard line, surrounded by a diverse set of people he has met throughout the campaign, whose presence is intended to signal to viewers at home that people like them are O.K. with Mr. Obama. Ten people selected by the campaign from all corners of the country will meet backstage with Mr. Obama and be shown to the television audience, also intended to convey their comfort level with the senator.

quote
Obama initially sounded like the therapeutic high-school principal and his 'zero-tolerance' doctrine of moral equivalence as he expels both the victim and the bully; but his calls for UN solutions, talks with equally at fault parties, and apparent trust in the wisdom of the EU and the power of NATO may not just scare Eastern Europeans but even those 200,000 who deified him at Berlin. -- Victor Davis Hanson
Obama: I wouldn't have nominated Clarence Thomas
from Hot Air:
Nuance: Obama almost says Clarence Thomas didn’t have enough experience to serve
And we know what horrible outcomes can arise when people without experience are placed in positions of great power. InstaGlenn accuses him of actually saying it but that’s not true: Watch him catch himself mid-sentence, the first fateful syllable of the word “experience” already out of his mouth, before he stops short and switches gears by basically calling Thomas a moron instead (at least, “at the time”) — an aspersion reinforced a moment later by the implicit contrast he draws in praising Scalia’s brilliance. A golden gaffe, narrowly avoided. Stay classy, Barry.

The Corsi Letter
From: DNC Rapid Response Team
Subject: Fight Swift Boating
Friend —
Yesterday, you learned about the right-wing’s latest attack: extremist Jerome Corsi and his book of the same old smears and lies.
This morning, when asked about the book, all John McCain could say about Corsi’s outrageously false attacks was, “Gotta keep your sense of humor.” Despite pledging to run a respectful campaign, McCain is just standing by while Corsi and his publisher, former Dick Cheney aide Mary Matalin, poison this presidential race.
Right now, you can take the next step by pushing back on Corsi, the media, and John McCain.
Tackle this smear campaign head on. The Obama research team released a 41-page rebuttal called “Unfit for Publication,” refuting Corsi’s rehashed distortions point by point, leaving no smear unanswered.
Arm yourself with the facts and write a letter to your local newspapers telling them to do their job by debunking this kind of garbage. And remind them that John McCain should honor his word by stepping up and denouncing this kind of low road politics:
http://www.democrats.org/unfit4publication
The right-wing smear machine is in full force — blasting out Corsi’s stale fabrications far and wide to a media that’s been eager to pick it up. In just three days, Corsi’s made front page news in both the New York Times and Washington Post.
The media are not playing their role as watchdogs, and they’re letting McCain off the hook as he allows Corsi’s despicable lies to drag this race into the gutter.
The Obama campaign has posted the full truth online so you have the tools to fight back in your community and local papers.
Can you write a letter to the editor exposing Jerome Corsi and his book for what they really are — another hack job by a desperate right-wing fabricator?
In 2004, Corsi helped launch the Swift Boat smear campaign with a book of distortions and lies he wrote about John Kerry. This time Democrats won’t be Swift Boated.
Keep up the good fight,

Number ONE on the New York Times bestselling list

available on Amazon
Product Description from Amazon:
In this thoroughly researched and documented book, the #1 New York Times bestselling co-author of Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry explains why the extreme leftism of an Obama presidency would leave the United States weakened, diminished and divided, why Obama must be defeatedand how he can be.
THE OBAMA NATION Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality
Barack Obama stepped onto the national political stage when the then-Illinois State senator addressed the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Soon after Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate, author Jerome Corsi began researching Obama's personal and political background.
Scrupulously sourced with more than 600 footnotes, THE OBAMA NATION is the result of that research. By tracing Obama's career and influences from his early years in Hawaii and Indonesia, the beginnings of his political career in Chicago, his voting record in the Illinois legislature, his religious training and his adoption of Christianity through to his recent involvement in Kenyan politics, his political advisors and fundraising associates and his meteoric campaign for president, Jerome Corsi shows that an Obama presidency would, in his words, be a repeat of the failed extremist politics that have characterized and plagued Democratic Party politics since the late 1960s.
In this stunning and comprehensive new book, the reader will learn about: -Obama's extensive connections with Islam and radical politics, from his father and step-father's Islamic backgrounds, to his Communist and socialist mentors in Hawaii and Chicago, to his long-term and close associations with former Weather Underground heroes William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrnassociations much closer than heretofore revealed by the press
-Barack and Michelle's 20-year-long religious affiliation with the black-liberation theology of former Trinity United Church of Christ Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whose sermons have always been steeped in a rage first expressed by Franz Fanon , Stokely Carmichael and Malcolm X, a rage that Corsi shows has deep meaning for Obama
-Obama's continuing connections with Kenya, the homeland of his father, through his support for the candidacy of Raila Odinga, the radical socialist presidential contender who came to power amid Islamist violence and church burnings
-Obama's involvement in the slum-landlord empire of the Chicago political fixer Tony Rezko, who helped to bankroll Obama's initial campaigns and to purchase of Barack and Michelle's dream-home property.
-the background and techniques of the Obama campaign's cult of personality, including the derivation of the words hope and change
-Obama's far-left domestic policy, his controversial votes on abortion, his history of opposition to the Second Amendment, his determination to raise capital-gains taxes, his impractical plan to achieve universal health care, and his radical plan to tax Americans to fund a global-poverty-reduction program
-Obama's naïve, anti-war, anti-nuclear foreign-policy, predicated on the reduction of the military, the eradication of nuclear weapons and an overconfidence in the power of his personality, as if belief in change alone could somehow transform international politics, achieve nuclear-weapons disarmament and withdrawal from Iraq without adverse consequences, for us, for the Iraqis or for Israel.
Meticulously researched and documented, THE OBAMA NATION is the definitive source for information on why and how Barack Obama must be defeatednot by invective and general attacks, but by detailed arguments that are well-researched and fact-based.

Obama’s Hawaiian Dreams of a Denver Nightmare

August 11, 2008 - by Jennifer Rubin | Pajamas Media
While Barack Obama is lounging on the beaches in Hawaii he will likely be musing about the DNC Convention. He no doubt expects this to be a rock-concert like send off to the rest of the road tour, otherwise known as the campaign, which will land him in the White House. But while he is soaking up the rays he might mull over what could go wrong in Denver. It is what effective planners and candidates, at least those who realize the election is not yet won, do: contemplate everything that could go wrong.

Obama backer George Clooney plans a movie on Osama bin Laden's driver

by Andrew Malcolm - LA Times - Top of the Ticket
George Clooney, one of Hollywood's most prominent backers of Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president, has bought the movie rights to tell the story of Osama bin Laden's driver Salim Hamdan convicted of aiding terrorism last week.
It may be a controversial project.
Clooney's movie production company, Smokehouse, bought the book rights from journalist Jonathan Mahler, who in "The Challenge" tells the story of Salim Hamdan, a Yemeni resident of the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in recent years after his capture for being the driver of Al Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.
Hamdan's lawyer maintained he was only a driver and took the high-paying job to feed his family. The presence of rockets in his car was never explained.
. . . According to the report in the Guardian, the book sympathetically portrays Hamdan and his Navy lawyer, Charles Swift, as the little guys up against the powerful forces of the United States government. Clooney, who is reportedly offering policy and speaking advice plus also helping Obama raise money from within the wealthy, liberal Hollywood community, is said to covet the role of Swift for himself.

The Messiah That Failed

As a “citizen of the world,” Obama must recognize that socialism creates misery everywhere it's tried.
August 10, 2008 - by Bernard Chapin | Pajamas Media
“Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.”
— Barack Obama Sr.
Recently I introduced my friend John to the marvel that is Mark Levin. Known as “the Great One,” Levin is perhaps the most cranial talk show host in America. His program runs on reason and he demolishes leftist spin with zeal and conviction. I assumed my friend would esteem him as much as I do, but this did not turn out to be the case. John turned off the podcast upon hearing Levin call Barack Obama a “Marxist.” My friend concluded, “That guy’s a nut.”
Regrettably, his response is not unusual. Fifty years of social conditioning has convinced the general public that those who speak out against Marxism, communism, and socialism are deluded redbaiters and McCarthyists. History is not popular and few are aware of the contents of the Venona Cables. They were released in 1995 and proved that acute concern over Soviet espionage during the Roosevelt, Truman, and Eisenhower administrations was fully warranted. The political left’s hold on our universities — as evidenced by schools like Bard naming a visiting professor’s chair after Alger Hiss — ensures that there will be no reediting of a narrative penned by the agent’s fellow travelers.

Obama: star of his own movie

By Neal Gabler | August 9, 2008
THE MOST UBIQUITOUS POLITICAL trope of the presidential campaign has been that Barack Obama is not just any old politician; he's a "rock star." (There are 770,000 Google hits of Obama and "rock star" and counting.) He attracts the kind of huge crowds that congregate around rock stars. He elicits the fevered passion from his adherents that a rock star does. He has the loose-limbed bearing, the cool, the charisma of a rock star, and his constituency is disproportionately young, like a rock star's. Obama is the Britney Spears of this political season, as a recent John McCain political ad implies.

Chavez Continues Nationalization Drive

The Venezuelan president tightens his control on business and society.
August 9, 2008 - by Fausta Wertz
Last Thursday, Chavez announced he was nationalizing Banco de Venezuela, a subsidiary of Spain’s Banco de Santander. Banco de Venezuela is the country’s third-largest bank.
While accounting for only a small fraction of Banco de Santander’s profits, Banco de Venezuela — which had been privatized a few years ago — is Venezuela’s fourth-largest lender. It owns a network of branches that Chavez can use for politically motivated loans and for distributing welfare payments and cash subsidies to his core constituency: the Venezuelan poor. It gives Chavez an important means for the (re)distribution of wealth and widening the state control over the financial services industry.

contrasting statements regarding Georgia

from John at Powerline:
Barack Obama has been criticized for acting as though he is already President. That's natural, since the actions in question have been presumptuous: the pseudo-Presidential seal, the speech in Germany, and so on. Today, one might say that John McCain is acting as though he is already President, but in a substantive and positive way. In his response to Russia's invasion of Georgia, McCain is giving us a preview of what sort of President he would be.
McCain has strongly and unequivocally come out in support of our ally Georgia, while placing the onus for the war squarely where it belongs, on Russia. In this, he has aligned himself with our most loyal European allies. Obama, on the other hand, issued the sort of vapid statement that would ingratiate him with the State Department while not requiring any distraction from his Hawaii vacation. An interesting point, by the way: McCain is supposed to be the old guy, but Obama is the one who needs a vacation.

How to blow it

It's the most winnable presidential election in American history - but the Democrats are old hands at losing. Michael Moore offers some helpful hints on how they might gift it all to the Republicans.

In an effort to help the party doofuses and pundits - and the candidate - spare all of us another suicide-inducing election night as the results giving the election to the Republican pour in, here is the blueprint from the Democrats' past losing campaigns. Just follow each of these steps and you, the Democratic Party establishment, can help elect John Sidney McCain III to a four-year extension of the Bush Era:
Keep saying nice things about McCain.
Have Obama pick a vice-presidential candidate who is a conservative white guy, or a general, or a Republican.
Keep writing speeches for Obama like the one in front of the American Israeli lobbying group the day after the final primaries.

Edwards admits to his two Americas: one with sexual affair

By RHONDA SCHWARTZ and BRIAN ROSS | August 8, 2008 | ABC News
John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.
