In 1969, [Ayers and Dorn] decided to "bring the war home" by staging a protest in Chicago during the trial of the "Chicago Eight" radicals accused of conspiring to cross state lines to incite a riot during the 1968 Democratic National Convention here. (Their conviction was later overturned.) "The Days of Rage," as the 1969 protest was called, brought several hundred members of the Weatherman — many of them attired for battle with helmets and weapons — to Lincoln Park. The tear-gassed marches, window smashing, and clashes with police lasted four days, during which 290 militants were arrested and 63 people were injured. Damage to windows, cars, and other property soared to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Around this time, Ayers summed up the Weatherman philosophy as "Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents — that's where it's really at."
"The rhetoric was excessive because the times were excessive," says Ayers. "The war had escalated, so naturally the language escalated. No one thought I meant that literally."

A Timely Question: How Does One Prepare for an Obama Presidency/Great Depression???
by Justin Katz
With the economic downturn still in the news while a fresh wave of "saying he's inevitable makes it true" passes through the opinion world, one question comes to mind: How does a family prepare for a Great Depression? Keeping in mind that I'm an optimist on religious grounds, that particular trajectory carries fair odds with an Obama presidency.
With no technological revolutions on the horizon, we're surely not in for a rapid economic recovery — do the media what it will to declare that the sun has risen in a giant, shining O. The Democrat executive and Democrat legislature can be relied upon to respond by giving away money to people who'll use it to pay down debt or waste it and to increase government spending as a form of economic stimulus. To pay for this renewed attempt at socialism, they'll borrow money and raise taxes on wealth and productivity. Consequently, the rich will sit on their wallets, and the productive will wallow in a lack of opportunity.
The silver lining is that the ruling regime of the United States of America will be so weak that our enemies will waste no time coalescing and pushing the world toward some brink or another, ultimately spurring the American people to rally the West toward a war-driven economic boom.
But again: How ought a family to prepare for such a future?
ADDENDUM:
On a related note, I wonder whether the Saturday Night Live folks realize how close to a cultural divide they are when they give the following line to Tina Fey/Sarah Palin:

As soon as these pro-Obama youth and children videos go up, they seem to be taken down. If the same thing happens to this video, you can find it here:

You might want to go there anyway. He's got an entire collection.
Obama's new ad - Keating Economics
As opposed to Marxist economics? Class warfare economics? Lowest common denominator economics? Instead of reaching for the sky, we'll be trudging through the mud if Obama has his way. The whole country could become one of his public housing developments.

Bold sculpture of Michelle Obama with American flag across her bare chest

By Lucy Cockcroft | Last Updated: 8:33AM BST 19 Sep 2008
The show closes October 10 - only five more days to see this sculpture!
The powerful clay work shows Mrs Obama in the style of an African Queen, wearing large hooped earrings and an "afro pick" comb in her Egyptian-influenced hairstyle.
An American flag is tattooed across her naked chest and the comb is decorated with pearls, the traditional garb of a First Lady, and an American Eagle.
The work, by controversial sculptor Daniel Edwards, is clearly a nod to both Mrs Obama's ethnic roots and her position at the heart of American culture and politics.

Obama clinches on Rove map

By MIKE ALLEN | 10/5/08 10:22 AM EDT | Politico.com
With 30 days until Nov. 4, Karl Rove projects that Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) would get at least 273 electoral votes – three more than are needed to win – if the presidential election were held today.
But Rove warns that this race is “susceptible to rapid changes,” so no definite prediction is possible.
The remarkable forecast from the architect of the last two nationwide political victories underscores the straits that have rapidly enveloped Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) as the banking and credit crisis spread.
Rove writes on Rove.com: “39 new state polls released in the first three days of October have given Barack Obama his first lead over the magic number of 270 since mid-July. Minnesota (10 EV) and New Hampshire (4 EV) both moved from toss-up to Obama, giving him 273 electoral votes to McCain’s 163, with 102 votes remaining as a toss-up.
“If the election were held today, Obama would win every state John Kerry won in 2004, while adding New Mexico (5 EV), Iowa (7 EV), and Colorado (9 EV) to his coalition. Remember, though, that these state polls are a lagging indicator and most do not include any surveying done after the vice-presidential debate on Thursday night.”
