Obama's energy chief: we're unruly teenagers

Obama energy secretary to Americans: Stop acting like teenagers!
By Mark Tapscott | 09/21/09 5:59 PM EDT | Washington Examiner
When Secretary of Energy Steven Chu thinks of the American people, he apparently sees a bunch of unruly teenagers who need to be told how to act.
Asked at a seminar on reconstructing America's electrical grid about the Obama administration's efforts to persuade people to conserve energy, Chu said “the American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act. The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is,” according to The Wall Street Journal.
And, notes the Journal's Ian Talley, the Obama administration is spending big to tell us what we should be doing on the energy issues:
"The administration aims to teach them—literally. The Environmental Protection Agency is focusing on real children. Partnering with the Parent Teacher Organization, the agency earlier this month launched a cross-country tour of 6,000 schools to teach students about climate change and energy efficiency.
"'We’re showing people across the country how energy efficiency can be part of what they do every day,' said EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson. 'Confronting climate change, saving money on our utility bills, and reducing our use of heavily-polluting energy can be as easy as making a few small changes."”
In other words, it's not going to hurt, they promise. Next thing you know, they will be saying it's going to hurt them more than it will us.

Mark Levin rails against the Five-PMer
Mark, have the guts to actually say his name. McCain would have been worse -- a fake Republican doing many of the same things, only slower. Better to see and know thy enemy out in the open. The two parties are both corrupt. Washington is corrupt. Would McCain have galvanized the Tea Parties as much as Obama? No way. We need to take back our country from ALL career beltway politicians. If it was McCain, how long do you think they would have allowed Sarah Palin to go unmuzzled?

Should the National Endowment for the Arts encourage artists to create art on issues being vehemently debated nationally?
That is the question that I set out to discuss a little over three weeks ago when I wrote an article on Big Hollywood entitled The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion?”
The question still requires debate but the facts do not.

Inside SEIU president Andy Stern’s culture of corruption

By Michelle Malkin | September 21, 2009 10:59 AM
On Friday, SEIU thug-in-chief Andy Stern published a screed titled, “Working Women and Men Will Not Be Silenced by Right Wing Attack Dogs; We Will Win the Change America Needs.” He carped about “an insidious and coordinated effort on the part of the extreme right to target individuals and grassroots community groups as a way to silence the voices of women and men who have suffered the most under 8 years of right wing policies. These extremists will attempt to shut down and shout down anyone with a different point of view.”
I’ve told you before about Stern’s operating philosophy: “[W]e prefer to use the power of persuasion, but if that doesn’t work we use the persuasion of power.” You can find my entire SEIU archives here.
While Stern assails “greedy CEOS,” he groomed his own team of labor management thieves. Here’s a closer look inside Andy Stern’s culture of corruption.

On-the-air prez seems like endless 'infomercial'

By CHARLES HURT | 10:20 AM, September 21, 2009 | New York Post
WASHINGTON -- During his first eight months in office, President Obama has sat down for three times as many television interviews as his most recent two predecessors combined.
And with yesterday's run of the Sunday-morning news show circuit and tonight's airing of "Late Night with David Letterman," Obama continues to blaze through the media hotter than any political figure in modern history.

"He's turning the presidency into an infomercial," warned former White House speechwriter Matt Latimer. "It's not just damaging to the White House. It will also ultimately hurt President Obama's image as a fresh, non-Washington leader."
The media blitz has won Obama unprecedented wall-to-wall coverage in the mainstream media.

Obama on ACORN: 'Not Something I've Followed Closely' Won't Commit to Cut Federal Funds
September 20, 2009 9:00 AM | George's Bottom Line
It was one of the most popular topics among the questions you submitted to me for my interview with President Obama – the controversy involving ACORN. (ACORN questions start at 4:00)
While the President said that ACORN "deserves to be investigated" in light of the "inappropriate" video that's gone viral, he did not endorse recent votes in Congress to cut off federal funding for the community group.
Here’s our FULL exchange:
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?
OBAMA: You know, if -- frankly, it's not really something I've followed closely. I didn't even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.
STEPHANOPOULOS: Both the Senate and the House have voted to cut it off.
OBAMA: You know, what I know is, is that what I saw on that video was certainly inappropriate and deserves to be investigated.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So you're not committing to -- to cut off the federal funding?
OBAMA: George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It's not something I'm paying a lot of attention to.
