CHICAGO — The Illinois House of Representatives voted Friday to impeach Gov. Rod Blagojevich on a 114-1 vote, setting the stage for a trial in the state Senate that will decide if he should be removed from office.
House members who spoke before the unprecedented vote charged that he betrayed his oath of office and is not fit to lead the state. Blagojevich is the first Illinois governor to be impeached.
